The New ‘Minimal Turing Test’ Can Test Our Humanity with Only ONE WORD?!?!

TIME FOR A PRIMER! The Turing Test is a a test created and devised by pioneering computer scientist Alan Turing back in 1950. The purpose of the test is to assess a machine’s ability to showcase intelligent behavior equal to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human being. Now put that in perceptive with the technology we have available today: smartphones and tablets, smart speakers and TVs, internet-of-things devices, chatbots and personal digital smart assistants; it’s fair to say that the idea of a machine that thinks isn’t quite as crazy as it sounded nearly 70 years ago. This brings us to the “Minimal Turing Test”, which asks humans to prove they’re human with only a single word. You Can Now Enjoy The Wonders of ‘Windows 95’ as an App on Your Modern Computer!

Now, back in the days of my youth, when it came to personal computer technology, Windows 95 was the end-all, be-all. At the age of 9, I was dumbfounded that the smoothness, organized, and crisp structure of the operating system. It was everything different from the Windows 3.1 I was used to using at school and BOY OH BOY was it great for gaming (back in my early days of PC gaming). Well now, for all of those who’ve missed out on experiencing this legendary operating system, you can try out this close approximation of Windows 95 as  an app on Apple’s MacOS, Microsoft’s Windows 10, and Linux. ‘Night Trap’ Re-release Sparks ‘Night Trap 2’ Development; Work on Sequel to Speed Up After NT1’s Ports are Done

This Friday, the remaster of the classic/infamous full-motion video game Night Trap will be re-released in a limited physical run on August 11 (thanks to developer Screaming Villains & Limited Run Games), while the digital release on PS4 and PC takes place on August 15. Due to the positive feedback of the re-release, its sequel, Night Trap 2, is currently in the very early stages of development as it aims to go into full-speed after the original game’s other remastered ports are finished and released. Another interesting little tid-bit is that the original game director, James Riley, will be heavily involved in the sequel’s development. A Barn Replacement + Farmhouse Restoration by Singer Baenziger Architekten

When Singer Baenziger Architekten took on this project of a farmhouse from the 1600s and a later-built barn (both sharing a cantilevered saddle roof) in the village center of Schlieren, Switzerland, they looked to restore the house while converting the barn building into a new living space. According to the design team, led by Roman Singer and Rémy Baenziger, the project will also include breaking up the singular roof through the use of roof windows and two roof sheds. Along with this, the outside landscape will retain the original exterior space, the unfinished nearby alley’s forecourt,  and the existing tree garden, but will add a new small private seating area for the farmhouse’s residential units. The Parador Ariston, an Abandoned & Deteriorating Latin American Architectural Classic…

In 1948, Hungarian architect Marcel Breuer designed and built — along with fellow architects Carlos Coire and Eduardo Catalano — the Parador Ariston in the La Serena neighborhood of Mar de Plata, Argentina.  Formerly remembered as the well-known Ariston Restaurant, the building’s overall shape and form — designed to hold social gatherings, dances and cocktail parties — is inspired by a four-leafed clover to provide maximum glazing and natural sunlight, with its main space elevated a single level with curved walls. However, sadly the building today stands abandoned, deteriorated in ruins, neglected, and covered in graffiti.
